Introduction
Hi!
I'm Kenshin Cordova, currently a sophomore at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I'm currently majoring in History. Outside of academics, one of my biggest interests is jet fighters, which started when I played the Ace Combat series and watched Top Gun.
Music plays a big role in my daily life. I both listen to and play music, mainly electric guitar. I enjoy playing a variety of genres. My taste in music is very broad since I listen to everything from classical music to punk rock, 80s hits, and video game soundtracks. I’ve participated in band concerts in high school, where my teacher had me play guitar parts that were written for oboes.
One piece I really like is “Liberation of Gracemeria” from the Ace Combat 6 soundtrack. I like it because it uses a full orchestra, band, and electric guitars to make the music feel powerful and emotional. It really captures the scale of the battle and makes everything feel more intense while you’re playing. It also puts yourself in the situation. This kind of music is a big reason I got into video game soundtracks in the first place.
Live Performance

Concerts like that are so much fun! Full orchestras have so much range in dynamics and timbre. Nice blog set-up!!!
ReplyDeleteI love ace combat, its where my interest of jets came from too. Great song choice, definitely one of the best from the series. My favorite AC game is probably Zero. It is cool you play electric guitar.

DeleteAC Zero is also my favorite hands-down. Cause of that, I was also planning on doing a musical analysis on "Zero."
I think a lot of people dismiss video game sound tracks thinking it won’t be any good because it just a small part of the game. I personally love listening to video game soundtracks as background my favourites include The Legend of Zelda, Silk Song, Persona 5 and the whole Minecraft soundtrack.
ReplyDeleteI love Top Gun as well! It is one of my favorite movies. I also like the soundtrack as well and one of my favorite songs from it is the Top Gun Anthem. Have you ever played that song on your electric guitar? I think it sounds so cool!
